The thrilling Israeli-born British saxophonist and Blockheads member brings his Orient House Ensemble to Leeds presenting his unique blend of bebop jazz and Middle Eastern music for what promises to be a stunning night at Seven Arts. The Orient House Ensemble was founded in 2000 and is renowned as one of the world’s most brilliant and inspirational jazz groups, touring constantly all over Europe and the UK and recorded six albums to date, winning many awards and receiving constant worldwide critical acclaim. Their musical history is a story of a relentless attempt to cross the divide, blending East and West and forming a new improvisational language out of Jazz and ethnic music. Hear them here
For the last 12 years the quartet have been touring all over the world, stunning audiences with their firebrand performances packed with drama, pathos, luscious harmonies and wit. Atzmon's latest compositions are a sweeping homage to our great cities, from Moscow to Buenos Aires and beyond. Each tune is at once reminiscent and hopeful; in a time of great uncertainty and turbulence Atzmon and the Orient House Ensemble deliver melodies that provide an anchor to wherever it is that we call home.
